Introduction

Classic Sweet Potato Casserole – A Warm and Sweet Winter Side Dish

Sweet Potato Casserole is a popular winter dish that is creamy, sweet and served with a crunchy pecan streusel. It’s a warm dish that is perfect with roasting meats or as a traditional holiday dish.

Ingredients

  • four large sweet potatoes peeled and cut into cubes
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melting
  • Half cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground Nutmeg
  • Salt to taste
  • For the Topping:
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pecan chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened butter softened

Execution

The oven should be preheated to 350 degrees F (175degC). Grease a baking dish that measures 9×13 inches.

Cook them in water to they are tender for about 15 minutes. Remove and blend until smooth.

in a bowl combine the sweet potatoes mashed with the melted butter brown sugar eggs, milk vanilla extract and cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Mix until it is well-combined.

Place the sweet potato mix into the baking dish that you prepared.

Within a bowl mix the flour, brown sugar pecans, softened butter to make Streusel as a topping. Sprinkle it on top of the sweet potato mix.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes,, or till the casserole has a caramelized and the dish has cooked to perfection.

Serve warm.

About: Sweet Potato Casserole

  • The casserole can be prepared ahead and then heated just prior to serving.
  • For a topping made of marshmallows you can add marshmallows on top in the final 10 minutes of baking.
