Introduction

Creamy Beef Stroganoff Recipe – A Russian Winter Favorite

Beef Stroganoff is an incredibly creamy and rich dish featuring sautéed beef and mushrooms tossed in a sweet cream sauce served with egg noodles. This classic Russian recipe, Beef Stroganoff, is perfect for a warm and comforting meal during the winter months. Whether you’re hosting a dinner or enjoying a quiet evening, Beef Stroganoff brings both flavor and satisfaction to the table.

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb (450g) sirloin beef thinly cut
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 tablespoon olive
  • 1 onion cut into pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of mushrooms, cut into slices
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • Salt and pepper as desired
  • 4 cups cooked egg noodles
  • Fresh parsley chopped (optional)

Execution

In a large pan cook the olive oil at medium-high temperature. Grill the beef slices until they are browned on both sides and then take them out of the skillet.

In the same skillet, cook the garlic and onions until they become soft. Add the mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms are brown.

Mix in the flour and cook for a second minute. Then add the broth from beef, Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Stir until the sauce becomes thicker.

Lower the temperature to a low setting and then stir in the Sour cream. Add the beef back to the skillet and let it simmer until it is cooked through. Add salt and pepper as desired.

Serve the stroganoff with beef over egg noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley if you like.

Additional tips

  • If you want a lighter version alternative, you could make the substitution of sour cream using Greek yogurt.
  • This dish is great with a side dish of steamed vegetables or a salad.
