  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta
  • 2 cups grated mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan
  • Salt, pepper, and Italian herbs to taste

Execution

1

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2

In a large skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until tender. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

3

Add the marinara sauce to the beef mixture and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.

4

In a large bowl, mix the cooked pasta, ricotta, and half of the mozzarella.

5

In a baking dish, spread a layer of half the pasta, then a layer of half the beef sauce. Repeat with the remaining layers.

6

Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and parmesan on top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the cheese is golden.

Additional tips

  • For an even more indulgent version, add sautéed mushrooms or spinach between the layers. This dish freezes well for future meals.
